45% of all expatriate assignments include a spouse who was employed prior to relocation.
Ernst & Young

Target group:

Spouses of foreign key employees.

Purpose:

The client will obtain clarification when it comes to his/ her future career, and attain focus on preserving his/her market value during the expatriation period.
For some this implies finding a new job, for others perhaps commencing further studies, or participating in charity work etc.

In order to obtain clarification, and thereby taking responsibility for ones own future career, it is important to be able to define ones market value.
The concept of market value encompasses multiple elements, but the main points are:

Furthermore, having a clear picture of ones market value will help the client realise the existence of different career opportunities and make room for manoeuvring and changes when it comes to developing his/her career.

Thus career counselling highlights what a foreign assignment means for the specific client’s career – both during his/her stay in Denmark and later when he/she returns home.

Method:

A job agent from Livning Institute will be the personal sparring partner of the client during the entire consultancy period.
The counselling is confidential.
The process will typically involve and include both consulting services and homework.
The client’s needs for counselling is individual, and for this reason the counselling is targeted to meet the specific needs and wishes of the client.

The program normally features the following elements:

Foundation:

The professional and personal skills and competencies of the client are identified, as well as areas of possible personal development. The clients will get the opportunity to carry out a personality test.

Opportunities:

Future possibilities, such as job opportunities, possible changes of career or profession, or wishes to begin further studies are uncovered.
A so-called network process is instigated; this should extend the network of the client. Further information is acquired through this network and thereby admitting alternative strategies and opportunities to emerge.

Action:

A wide range of activities is initiated, for example job search activities, covering newspaper adds, work out uninvited job applications, application to job banks and temp agencies and establishment of a profile in job databases.
It is possible to add conversation training as an element of training for job interviews.

The Sessions:

10 – 12 sessions – support during the entire process (foundation, opportunities, and action)
During the run of the course the client will get support and sparring throughout the entire process, thus working with and through all 3 elements of the job counselling program: Foundation, opportunities, and action.

6 session – support for clarification and initiation (foundation and opportunities)
Through these sessions the client will get help clarifying his/her professional qualifications and personal competencies, and sparring when it comes to figuring out future opportunities.

4 sessions – support for clarification (foundation)
Though these sessions the client will get help clarifying his/her professional and personal skills and competencies.
